I'm obsessed with babywearing, what carrier would you recommend?
I have a ring sling, a pouch, two wraps, and a structured carrier by infantino. My favorites are the wraps and the ring sling. I'm just wodnering what other kind of carriers are out there. I know about mei tais, I'm looking into making one, but are there any others?? I want to try every one!!
Oo, I bought a hotsling and they're wonderful. My son loved sitting in it.
Mei Tais are fab, go to http://www.babyhawk.com for the best ones! I have an work at home ebay special Mei Tai too! I have an Ellaroo Ring Sling, lightly padded, and an Ellaroo Wrap, 3.6m, in LaRae (gorgeous fabric) I would highly recommend it!
Virtues of Mei Tais are they're really easy to put on and take off sitting down, so fab for front carries on public transport. The front to back manevouer is easy, you just shift them round so it's good if you're nervous of hoisting them up for back carries. The padded strap Babyhawks are one of the comfiest out there and are also great for back carries. Incredibly funky designs. The only drawback is the hip carry, not very practical with an MT. They do make the Mei Hip though for bigger babes....it's like the Hippyseat.
I use my wrap for everyday, back carries for walking the dog and front or hip for most other things. I use my unpadded MT when it's hot, as they have such little fabric they are a lot cooler, and when I'm going on public transport. I use my Ring Sling around the house and at the supermarket.
Slings are fab, it's great to have a selection!!!
Do you have a pouch? I tried a hotslings puch for a while but I bought the wrong size so I sold it on, then found I preferred the ring sling. Try http://www.bigmamaslings.co.uk for Hotslings pouches.

PS there's also a section on Big Mama Slings about making your own slings.....and you can buy the accessories, like the Rings for ring slings. Hope that helps!!!! If you make a MT, put a pocket on the front, very very useful!!!!
