The bird toys should be sturdy and strong, since it will be exposed to the tough beaks and pecking of birds. If the toys have certain parts that come apart, they should be avoided. There are several reputed toy companies, which allow buyers to find out whether the colors used in the bird toys are harmless dyes or not. If there are metal parts in the toys, you need to be careful since these can be dangerous to most birds. The popular bird toys include plastic toys with smooth surfaces, which can be cleaned easily. Mirrors as Bird Toys
Most of small birds like the presence of mirrors in their cages. But it has been observed that many male birds start trying to feed their reflection. In that case, the mirror should be removed. Bird Toys and Bird Size

If you are using bird toys with threads, you need to keep watch for loose fragments, which should be removed as quickly as possible.
Rotate the Bird Toys
The bird toys present in the cage should be rotated from time to time to refresh the environment for your birds. You need not spend a lot of money on bird toys and can even make them at home. All you need is a little observation and care, as well as some toilet rolls and newspapers. Birds simply love these items as they play by destroying or hiding under them. You can even use teething rings or other discarded baby toys. Parrots can be amused for long time using colorful buttons in transparent plastic bottles.

1. Rope and Block – Take a block of wood and thread it with cotton ropes knotted at both ends. It makes a great bird toy and will entertain your pet for a long time.
2. Bottle Toy – Pet birds are highly intelligent creatures and they love to crack puzzles. Take a transparent plastic bottle and place many colored bird safe objects within the bottle. Birds feel curious at the sight of these objects, which are visible but cannot be reached.

What animal, bird or insect is making this noise every night of my holiday in Spain?
From dusk onwards it starts so obviously something nocturnal. We´re up in the hills 50km north of Barcelona if that helps. The best way to describe this sound is like a rusty hinge that needs oil. It sounds to me like several creatures all calling at once, each with a single "creak" then being answered by his pals at a slightly different pitch so you get a "gate swinging back and forth" effect!? Don´t think it´s a bat or owl or toad, don´t think it´s a nightjar or cicade but happy to be wrong, if only to find out as it´s driving me crazy.

i lived in the mountains of spain for three years and they go on for months, it is an insect that sit in the trees and rubs thier legs together, cant think of the name it has gone clean out my head, but it is not crickets, they are similar looking to locusts, big ugly things, if i think of the name i will come back to you
